The endangered Wild dog ( Lycaon pictus ) is diurnal and lives and hunts in packs numbering more than 15 members. Each wild dog's colouring and pattern is unique and individuals are easily recognisable. They run down their prey, tearing at them with their powerful jaws. This is a gory method and gave the wild dog the erroneous reputation of being cruel. Wild dog's prey tends to die far quicker than most other predator's prey.
