Part of our Safari fleet
Our fleet of ten-seater open 4 wheel drive open safari vehicles are specifically designed for comfort, safety and optimum game viewing in all weather conditions. Although most of the safari vehicles in the Kruger look like our vehicles, it is interesting to note that we designed these vehicles ourselves, after an intensive 6-month research and development programme. This successful and innovative design has been in use for over five years!
The vehicles have a shatterproof windscreen to protect guests from being struck in the face or eyes by insects or by stones flicked up by other vehicles on especially dirt roads. The windscreen also greatly reduces the uncomfortable effects of windburn and, especially during winter, the wind chill factor. The windscreen design also enables one to drive with the vehicle open during light rain showers, without having to close up the sides. Top of page
The seating arrangement is three rows of three and an additional seat next to the ranger. The nine seats are luxury, moulded, individual seats with thick cushioning for comfort and also include headrests and folding armrests. Top of page
Fixed ladders, one per row, provide safe and easy access to each seat row. Top of page
Although 4-wheel drive is not necessary in the KNP, all our safari vehicles are 4-wheel drive to ensure optimum traction on especially the dirt roads. Top of page
We spend a lot of time doing what our clients came for, which is game viewing! This means that we inevitably spend a lot of time out in the blazing African sun. The roof provides shade, which is especially crucial while stationary at a sighting. It also provides better protection against the harmful ultraviolet rays. During our wet season, it also enables the sides to remain open for game viewing, while we remain comfortably dry. Top of page
All our vehicles are fitted with two-way radios which enable the rangers to speak to each other, as well as back to base. This is imperative when considering there is limited cellular phone coverage in the KNP and there are only telephones in the main Rest Camps, which are normally around two hours distant from each other. Although the radios are primarily a safety feature, game sightings are also called in over the network which obviously increases the game sightings. Top of page
The side panels are only utilised when rain showers make it necessary for comfort. Normally our showers, which necessitate the use of the sides, are of short duration. Top of page
The seats are tiered, which means that all guests can easily see the ranger at all times. The height also enhances the game viewing, especially where the grass is tall. Top of page
There are three seats next to each other, but there are no additional struts to inhibit or restrict your photography. This becomes very important when video filming. Top of page
All the factors set out above mean we have a vehicle which is safe, comfortable and able to support game viewing during all-weather conditions. Top of page
