Leopard ( Panthera pardus ) tend to hunt by stealth. The will lie up on high ground or in a tree and observe the movement of potential prey. They will then make use of dead ground or drainage lines to get very close to their prey before a final last dash. They either close off the airway by biting the throat or by biting the muzzle. Carcasses are stored in trees to prevent other predators, like hyaena or lion, from stealing the carcass.
